Hurtful Yesterdays
Chained and shackled to the past,
I've been unable to see you free.
I offered you love and honesty,
But you couldn't really see me.

I tried to prove myself to you,
To show you what real love could be.
But you could never look past her,
When you were looking right at me.

You left wallowing in emotion,
Day after miserable day.
While you held onto the pain of yesterdays,
Do you really like it that way?

I let my heart cry out for you,
With such a longing to set your love free.
But all you saw was her treachery,
And the blame fell down on me.

You're chained to your past forever,
Now I'm forced to say goodbye.
I wish you could have seen past her,
Then I wouldn't have to cry.

You're chained and shackled to the past,
I can never set you free.
I offered you love and honesty,
Why couldn't you just see me?
