Life!

We look for something all our lives,
Often seeking the wrong things.
Money, wealth, superficial looks,
Instead of a lover's protective wings.

We miss the scent of a new rose,
Or a baby's very first cry.
We let depression rule our lives,
Most of them not knowing why.

I decided today to change my life,
I set forth on a brand new trail.
I made up my mind to be happy,
It's a mission I refuse to fail.

I will watch each new sunrise,
Listen to stories about the past.
I will touch someone's heart each day,
And stop living my life so fast.

I want to experience the ups,
But I want take time to cry.
When someone needs me I will go,
Without needing a reason why.

Life is short, loved ones leave us,
Someday too, I will come to an end.
My goal in life is for others to know,
That I thought of them as my friend.
