Middle Age
Sitting here in the sunshine,
Thinking of days ahead of me.
Wondering where I'll be in a few years,
What parts of the world I'll see.

I am in that middle-age part of life,
No babies in diapers for me.
I miss the little hugs and kisses,
But not that baby pee.

I walk along the river,
I see the birds in the sky,
I wonder why we must get older,
Then I figure out why.

To always be youthful,
Would be such a long chore.
We would never have time to play,
Or just sit quietly anymore.

This point in life is given,
To appreciate the small things.
Like butterflies and daisies,
And the old wooden porch swing.

I feel comfortable with my spot now,
So don't you try to take it,
I just got a new recipe for cheesecake,
I'm off to the kitchen to make it!
