My Grandmother

Today would have been her birthday,

My thoughts have wondered to her.

Reliving our times together,

Losing myself in laughs that were.

Tilling up the garden soil,

Walking hand in hand to church,

Listening to tales of her childhood,

While on her lap I perched.

Living for awhile through her eyes,

While I gently brushed her long hair,

Somehow I never thought of today,

I took for granted she would always be there.
