Night Falls
Nightime comes and I lie in bed,
While thoughts of us play in my head.
Slumber has trouble sneaking in,
I don't want to give you up again.

I hear a train go clacking by,
It becomes my personal lullaby.
Tinkling windchimes from far away,
Send my thoughts to a sunny day.

A day that we walked, and just felt free,
We laughed and teased, you still loved me.
Maybe the love didn't all go astray,
Life just somehow got in the way.

When I'm tired and feeling cold,
I think of you and I'm no longer old.
Once again, I'm frisky and free,
There is just us, just you and me.

How it happened I have no clue,
There was nothing that I could do.
I couldn't cast my pride away,
To bring myself to beg you to stay.

Night falls all around me now,
I dream to go to you somehow.
In my mind, we snuggle and kiss,
It's that closeness that I truly miss.
