In this site you will find a great number of
poems written by my very dear friend and sister, Dianna Petry. Of course, some of them
are closer to my heart than others, and the one on this page, is one of the ones closer to my
heart.
Her poetry is just beautiful and special, so
enjoy it. She has given her permission for her poems to be included on my site.
You're Gone
I used to walk quickly towards the future,
I had determination and ambition from my
birth.
I was told that I could do anything I
desired,
Often I had more pride than I had
self-worth.
I wouldn't let myself stumble in public,
Never admitted that I had a broken heart.
I dealt with whatever hurt life threw my
way,
Until the day I knew that we must part.
I found myself deep in thoughts of anger,
When I faced the greatest loss one can
endure.
I was told there was a reason or a
purpose,
Of God's existence, I was no longer
sure.

I kept praying for understanding and
guidance,
I needed something to help me make it
through.
I would have given up my soul very freely,
If I could have said just a few more
words to you.
Again I am determined, I found my inner
strength,
You left it right here with me when you
went away.
Your love made me stronger, gave a purpose
to my life,
You taught me something new each
single day.
I'll keep your memory warm against my
heart tonight,
I will wrap myself in thoughts of loving
you.
Tomorrow I'll go explore another part of
the world,
I'll live life to the fullest like you
always tried to do.
